The point I'm making Wizard is that you may be running some software that could be having an adverse affect on your system.

Hi again Wizard,

I will leave you in the capable hands of our Maynard for now.

However there may be a now well known glitch in service pack 3 stopping you installing the new drivers. It may mean uninstalling service pack 3 first.

However Maynard will know about that, and will advise accordingly perhaps later.

Click the + by audio and then click on Global and Save the file to your Desktop.

When it is done downloading, right-click on the file and select Extract All...

Next go to Device manager and uninstall the sound drivers.

Then reboot your computer.

When Windows start it should say found new Hardware if it looks for the drivers then click Browse and navigate to where you extracted the files.

If that wont work click on the setup file in the folder where you extracted the files:

You need to tick the button "Install from a specific location" and then point it to where the driver is located Wizard.
Posted

the drive will be located in (your desktop)\WDM_R227\wdm

point the hardware wizard here and see what happens then.

when you installed service pack 3 was it successfull no errors and the like.

run this file to, it should say already installed (words to that effect). (your desktop)\MSHDQFE\

in there wil be a kb file....run that.

this install the Universal Audio Architecture, this is basically a driver that your high definition device to function.

if that installs without giving an error, try re running the setup.exe in the (your desktop)\WDM_R227 see if that works.
