Guest David C Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 I connect up to our Windows 2003 server from home via RDP. I want to be able to install MS updates and then reboot the server but I think I'll lose my connection. How can I do a remote reboot and then re-login as though I was sitting at the server entering my ctrl-alt-del and password? Thanks. David

You can start a ping -t to the IP address of the server to watch when it actually goes down and comes back up, then log in again as usual. I wouldn't suggest it though. There are some patches that will cause the server not to come back up after a reboot. Then you have to go in and troubleshoot. You may be better off going into the office and updating the servers. You never know when a patch is going to mess up a production server. hth DDS "David C" <dlchase@lifetimeinc.com> wrote in message news:uR3kFEiUIHA.5404@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I connect up to our Windows 2003 server from home via RDP.
