Guest Jean-Paul Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 Hello, I have the following problem with an excel file on a network share (windows storage server 2003 R2). A first user open the file in rw. it lose then network connectivity. After that, a second user (how asked to be informed when the file is available) receive the message that the file is available and modify it. When the first user has network connectivity again, it can save and replace all values of this file. Is there a way to maintain the file locked, even on network connectivity issue? Thanks Jean-Paul
Guest Anthony Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Re: Excel File open in r/w by two users on network connectivity issue Hi Jean-Paul, I would ask this question in the Office/ Excel newsgroups. From a file server point of view, the answer is no. The server is just a storage box. To do what you describe you would need a check-in, check-out service (maybe SharePoint?)
