Ok, I will admit as an archivist with discarded emails I am rubbish.

Recently large files were not getting through (you know the ones mates/relatives send which are garbage but they think side-splitting?).

Anyway, as a result I purged thousands - and I mean thousands of the blighters. Inbox, sent items and the deleted lot.

Somewhat surprisingly, they still seem to be conflicting! I have checked and re-checked the sent & delteted item folders and they are empty. Even if I send a test mail to myaelf it comes back advising my inbox is full etc.

Any ideas?

Your mail account on the server will be full.

You will have a quota - say 10 or 100 MB, and all your messages will still be stored there.

Best bet is to log on to your mail using your browser and clear it out.

Your mail client eg Outlook Express will either

1) take a copy of each message and download it to your computer, leaving the original on the mail server

or

2) download each message to your computer and delete it, straight away or after a number of days.

Depends how it is set up.

If they are left on the server they build up.......
