Hi Folks,

1st of all is it all possible to ever be able to transfer your iPod collection to your PC at all?

Secondly since getting my new pc (Windows xp) I have never reinstalled my iTunes software - so thought I'd do this today... all okay there but then I connected the iPod and the pc will just not recognise that I have added any new hardware AT ALL! I have tried all the USB ports I have - to no avail.... any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Hi Cass,

there is a converter to transfer IPod to PC here-

iPod to PC Transfer: Transfer iPod to PC, iPod to iPod transfer tool

It is showing as a free download or buy. I assume the free may only be trial software perhaps but worth a look at.

As far as the computer not even seeing new hardware when you plug it in, lets try the simple one first (I like simple:) ) have you tried a different lead?

Hi Nev,

Yeh I like simple too :) which is lucky being me...

I've tried a new lead and the story is the same...

BUT I did put you wrong earlier (sorry was taking the info 2nd hand!) apparently the new hardware CAN be detected and what happens is a helpful wizard pop up appears and tells us to install the software, ok fine, but after inserting the disc and clicking on the iTunes icon it then said it couldn't open as it has been created from a newer version...

most confusing...

Thank you

Ah, you did it the wrong way round mate. First off, uninstall everything related to your IPod that is on there now, then install the software before plugging in the IPod. It should work then.

Nev.
