Question on the OEM license for Server 2003. Is it possible to change the

motherboard on a computer running OEM Server 2003 Standard without violating

the license terms? I understand a reinstall of the O/S might be necessary,

and that's ok.

Right now the original motherboard may be the source of compatibility

problems with the software trying to be run on the machine, and changing the

motherboard is something I'm looking into. Given this software cost $700 it

would be unpleasant if Microsoft forbade this, given it's a small business.

However I need to know if they allow it or not.

Also there are TS Cals associated with the machine. Would those be

transferrable to the new motherboard?

Are TS Cals transferrable to another machine?

Hi Matt,

Generally you are OK, but you may want to check with a licensing specialist

if you need further guidance with OEM licenses.

As to TS CALs, these can be moved, but you will have to register them again

which will require calling them in. The process isn't too convoluted.
