djtonymorgan Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Welcome to Future Systems Solutions that is the website for a programe called "Casper XP". this little tool will take a complete clone of your hard drive..... this means that if your original fails you can just boot from your external drive,,, or put the hard drive from the caddy intot he pc....you can then make another clone for your external... hope that makes sense. anyway the tool is great pretty fast...i cloned a jam packed 250gb in just short of 30 mins... this is all done inside windows too....there is a command line version too. hope that helps a little regards danzil Hey, i've read many articles stating that you cannot boot from an external hard drive. Does this software really work?!?! I'm using an XP Pro laptop for DJing and like the idea of having a bootable external drive with all my data backed up, which i could just plug in and carry on if my internal failed mid-set. Anyone have any thoughts on this... Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 To do this Tony your bios must support booting from usb, ie an external cdrom drive or HDD Caddy. To find out tap F2 or Del or whatever key it asks for to "Press Del to Enter Setup" (Del(ete) being an example) immediately on boot up. Look for Boot Options which may be showing or may be in the Advanced section. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Wolfey is correct, your PC/Laptop needs to support booting from external USB devices. I use this to nake my USB pen drive bootable:BartPE Web site. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
