nornironman Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 i recently bought and installed kaspersky onto my computer. its working fine but the speed of my internet has dropped considerably especially at night and also when the software is updating. i dont want to uninstall the software as i had an account hacked but the slowness of the net is really beginning to cheese me off. is there anythingi can do to get the speed back up while still have it installed? Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 As far as I'm aware Kaspersky, unlike Norton, is not a large system resource hugger so it's down to the amount of traffic on the net at a given place and what speed you are getting from your ISP. Is this a wireless usb connection we talk of or some good old fashioned dial up situation? Quote
nornironman Posted July 19, 2009 Author Posted July 19, 2009 no its not wireless im with orange broadband its definately kaspersky slowing it down cos when i switch it off its speeds up again Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Is it Kaspersky Anti Virus or the Internet Security and if so what version is it? What is the actual speed you get with Orange? Quote
nornironman Posted July 19, 2009 Author Posted July 19, 2009 kaspersky internet security it says my speed is 2.2mb Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Here's a full list of the options in KIS Setting up Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 - Kaspersky Lab Forum Set it to download updates when you are not surfing and runs scans on demand. To be honest this is the first time I have heard of Kaspersky sucking on resources like you mention, perhaps one of the members who runs it can offer further insight. Quote
Cobra Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I ran KIS for 2 years on all of my computers and never had a problem with it slowing down anything. It is possible to get carried away with setting some monitoring to aggressive levels and experience a slowdown on older/slower systems, but default settings s/b fine.
