First of all, hello forum.

I've been having lots of issues connecting to my wireless network recently.

I'm using a PC with windows XP, a Belkin N150 and a BT home hub.

I was initialy able to connect to the internet, yet by the time I'd finished typing an address I was being disconnected.

Now the wireless will either:

1. Connect to the router, but not the internet. And not allow me to logon to the router.

2. Be unable to assign a network address

3. Show no connection on the Belkin utility program yet in the taskbar will show network connectivity (still unable to access internet or router though)

4. Disconnect from the router altogether

I can ping an IP and a couple of times have been succesful on getting onto the net, so i'm sure there's no IP issues and I'm able to access windows media player files over the local network but just cant connect to the net and i'm really stumped on what to do.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Ta.

Hi Jimmy and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help.

I am no expert here on wireless networking but here are a few basics to start with.

First off, are there any walls or other objects in the way of the wireless signal?

Secondly, strange as it may seem, you can have problems if the signal is too strong, so are receiver and transmitter too close together?

Third one, is there a near neighbour also on wireless, and their signal is interfering with yours?

Also have a look here about general BT hub security-
