Hi guys, I recently installed Nero, not sure which one the DVD one I think

Anyway, half-way through installing my computer crashed, once I re-booted it SEEMED to be installed, By the by I now want it gone but i cannot

I have tried uninstalling both through the traditional method of

Control Panel > Uninstall a program

And through a computer clean up program called AusLogics BoostSpeed

Both do the same thing, bring up a small box with no text in it, and just do nothing.

So i have no way of getting it off my computer, and it is actively effecting all my media files given the nature of the software so its kind of a big deal :(

I tried the usual re-boot stuff, and even tried a few days later, I also wiped all files and applications associated with the software and yet it still remains, any suggestions on how to remove it?

Thanks!

Ali.

Hello Ali

Welcome to FPCH

Have you tried doing a system restore to a time before installing Nero on the box?

In my opinion you should try a System Restore like Wolfeymole suggested. For that matter I would try restoring to the earliest point possible if you have been mucking about with programs like that cleaner. I have absolutely no faith in those things.

I really dont want to do a system restore, last time i did one of them they messed up my settings and caused a lot of stress for me.

I tried the uninstaller and it worked, partially, I then had to use AusLogics to shred a bunch of folders by force and it mainly got rid of everything although i still see a few lingering clues of its presence.. thanks for the fast replies guys.

Where did you get Nero from Ali?

First of all a System Restore will not mess up anything. It simply restores to a point before you messed up your system. It would seem your current state is already messed up so a Restore is the best option.

As I also stated I think your current efforts such as that program you mentioned that is likely worthless has just made things worse yet you continue to use it in spite of the warning. In fact a Restore might undo that programs damage if you are lucky.

You have failed an install.

You have hacked at your system.

You continue to try a program that did not work.

You did not follow the best advice.

For that matter you can't even tell us what version of Nero you tried or what medium it was on or where you got it.

What version is it and where did you get it?

No. Consider this a warning to not ask questions about pirated programs.

We are more than glad to help with programs that are legal ;)
