Hi all,

Been doing some research and composed a list of parts for a PC I want to build and would love a second or third opinion if possible.

I have a max of £600 on a system, I use the system for web viewing, DVD / Video watching (Via HDMI Out cable) and heavy(ish) games (GTA , COD4 , FIFA Etc)

This is what I've got so far...

Processor - £106.69 Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 3.06GHz Socket 775 1066Mhz 3MB Cache Retail Box Processor - Ebuyer

Motherboard - £63.71 ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 ASUS P5QL PRO iP43 Socket 775 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard - Ebuyer

Memory - £37.16 Crucial 4GB (2X2GB) DDR2 800MHz Crucial 4GB (2X2GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Ballistix Memory CL4 2.0V - Ebuyer

Hard drive - £58.99 Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB Samsung EcoGreen F2 1TB Hard Drive SATAII 32MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer

DVD drive bluray - £80.85 LG Electronics Blu-Ray & HD-DVD-Rom Combo 16x DVDRW Black SATA - Retail Box With Software - Ebuyer

Graphics card - £159.99 PowerColor HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV PowerColor HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDTV Out PCI-E Graphics Card - Ebuyer

Power supply - £35.19 Powercool 550W 80plus Powercool 550W 80plus Certified Efficienty PSU - 1x PCI-E 4x SATA - Ebuyer

Could choose from here: Cheap Computer Cases, Gaming Cases at Ebuyer - Antec, Coolermaster and more! Should I be going for either midi case or full tower. Will I have cooling issues?

There are some things like the bluray drive I figure makes sense, but might not need it that's about £40-50 saved? I'll be sourcing the OS my self.

So rough total = £592.58

I also received this advice..

You could buy another hard disk for a raid system, which would mean you wouldn't be risking all your data on one drive. There's various other things you can do as well, if there's anything specific, let me know.

I already have a 1TB external for all media storage, and use around 40% of the 180GB internal for programs and pc running stuff. So don't really need a new HD either. I could prob ditch the BluerayDVD drive too and use my existing DVDRW Drive.

Can anyone give me any thoughts, or recommendations?

Hi

Overall looks very nice.

For graphics card i would look at the Nvidia GTX275, but the choice is up to you. ;)

Ok, what's the reason for that? Is it just better all round, certain spec better?

Thanks for your help

They are basically almost the same. It comes down to personal choice. If you are an ATI fan go with the HD4890, I am Nvidia fan, so i would choose that one.
