Yvonne51 Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Hi All Please help. I know it's going to sound very dim, but I am!! I seem to have got in such a mess with my pictures folder. I download my photos alright, then sometimes they don't go into My Pictures file and they just appear on documents list. Also when I send an email and need to attach a set of photos I can't always find them. Normally you just click on your file and you get the thumbnail thingy come up and you can then tick the ones you want to attach. I need to reorganise all the pictures into files or better still into albums. Could you please help a very thick person. Have read loads about files and folders but just cannot seem to organise mine. If anyone can refer me to something I can read which is for proper dummies then I would be so grateful. Thanks all. xx Yvonne Quote
Guest Wolfeymole Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Make a bunch of sub folders within My Pictures Yvonne called say Family, Holidays, Christmas etc then round up all the pics that are in obscure places and cut and paste them to the given folder. Be aware that if some have the same file name it will ask if you want to replace it, this is dodgy as you can end up losing pics. An example being a digital camera where a batch of pics may start like this, 00001.jpg, 00002.jpg etc. If you place these in say Holidays and then shoot another batch you may find that the second batch will have the same file name so you will have to rename the files. Plastic Nev Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Just to add, and hopefully reduce confusion, first do as Wolfey said, create some folders within My Pictures and name them, then search for the misplaced photo's, once found, click on the file, in the box on the left titled "File and folder tasks" you should see "Move this file" click that, you will then get a drop down list, find "My Pictures" in that list, click the expansion button and find the appropriate folder, click on that one, then click the " move" button. That should do it. If you do get the message "File 00001 (or other name) already exists, replace this file?" click cancel, then go back to the misplaced file and change the name to something else first. Nev.
