Guest Joe Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 This is a new post, as I did not receive any responses from an earlier post. I will try to ask the question in a better way. I have two Win2K3 servers that I need to increase the size of the App and Sys logs in the Event Viewer. A change in the size in the properties box doesn't produce any errors, but the change is lost as soon as I click 'OK'. I have also made the change in the registry at HKLM/system/CurrentControlSet/Services/EventLog The change is accepted and shows up correctly in the Event Log properties page, but upon rebooting the server the values are changed back to default. Can anyone tell me what would be changing these values? I have no group policy defined for the event logs on a system or domain level. Thanks, Joe

Since it does not appear to resolve your problem, why not walk around it instead of attempting to solve it? I would do this: - Change the registry values manually to what I want them to be. - Change the permissions of this value so that I'm the only one who can modify them. Give everyone "read" access but deny them "write" access. You might have to change the ownership too to make it stick.
