Trace Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 What happens if I compress a folder? Can I do this to somehow send a whole load of photos to my Mum (for her to "uncompress"?), rather than attaching a few at a time to an e-mail? Any suggestions most welcome as I got about 200 piccy's I'd like to send!! Quote
Plastic Nev Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Hi Trace, I am afraid photo's in JPG format will not compress much smaller without losing too much quality, you could try using windows own zipping facility but I doubt the total file will be much smaller, sorry about that, but to keep the quality of each photo you will be better going the long way round I am afraid. Plastic Nev Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) Hi Again, an other idea perhaps and given to me by a fellow moderator and administrator, would be to put your photo's on a file sharing site. Two or three come to mind, there is the well known Photobucket, dedicated to photos and image files here- Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket And two general purpose file hosting and sharing sites, in both cases files can be protected by password so it is just a matter of passing the password to your mum. Both sites here- 2shared - About Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire Hope that may be of help. Nev. Edited July 26, 2009 by Plastic Nev Quote Need help with your computer problems? Mara Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hi Trace, Another alternative is the below. I have a lovely friend who can't "unshrink" any of the images that have been zipped and because I want her to get them with high resolution, that means they are too big to be attached to an email. I've used this site ever so often and never, ever received any 'junk' from them or any other nasties - one doesn't even have to sign up and it's also very easy to use.
