Hi,

I have Microsoft XP pro installed on a 2Gb partition (don't ask why). My other partition is 198Gb and empty.

How do I remove the partition and Windows? I don't mind formatting my harddrive and I don't have partition software.

Regards,

Hship

First off, do you have any disks and exactly what are they? Secondly to answer your question yes you should be able to do a full reformat.

But why do you want to remove the existing Windows?

A bit more info will help us to help you.

Who installed XP Hship?

On a 200GB hard drive I'd set the XP partition at 50GB at least

When you install XP for the first time it will allow you to set a partition size to install XP to ok.

Re-format and set the partition to at least 50gb and set it as NTFS.

Ok, but how do i format the drive? When i right click on the windows disk and select format etc. It says windows was unable to complete the format

You cannot format the drive when it's an active boot drive, this is like asking it to commit suicide.

Reboot and go into the bios and set the first boot sequence to cdrom, pop the xp disk in, save the settings and exit.

When you see the message "Press any key to boot from CD" do so.

Follow the instructions on screen.

When it asks again later on reboots press nothing and just let it install.
