Just recently my PC shuts down occasionally of its own accord. When it restarts I get an error message which when I click on preview says....

BCCode : 10000050 BCP1 : 8D45E400 BCP2 : 00000001 BCP3 : 80522B9E

BCP4 : 00000000 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 768_1

It asks if I want more info and I get....

C:\DOCUME~1\RBVIDE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERe614.dir00\Mini072809-02.dmp

C:\DOCUME~1\RBVIDE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERe614.dir00\sysdata.xml

Does anyone know what these are and how to repair / delete or whatever.

I am using XP Home.

Thanks in advance.

The 2 files are just a dump of info of what has gone wrong and wouldnt make any sense to you so delete them. Check the event log and see if there is any info in that

I think (holds breath) I may have found the problem. I started to systematically disconnect hardware add ons. When I disconnected the slave (D) drive things seemed to stabilize and return to normal and it hasn't shutdown/restarted since then. I will leave for a few days to make sure though. If it was the problem is there any way to recover the 'stuff' from the drive?

Yhanks for advice etc.

I have seen a loose power connector cause this on a friend's computer before.

If you have any spare power connectors inside your case, try putting a different one into your secondary hard drive.

Is the hard drive IDE (large, flat, wide cables) or SATA (thin, small cables)?

Make sure the IDE or SATA cable is plugged in securely at both ends when you reconnect the drive.

Do you have any other computers you could connect it to, to see if the problem is transferred along with it?
