Tootech Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Have you looked in your Documents folder? Are all of your docs, and pictures where they should be? It's a long shot, but I wondered if your user profile was corrupt and Windows has created a temporary one for you. Your Start Menu would look odd, and your documents etc would be missing. Quote
jt91 Posted August 1, 2009 Author Posted August 1, 2009 I dont see any option for that, but the oldest I see is for yesterday (31st). And all my documents/ pics are still fine. They havnt been moved. Quote
snow Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Well, there is one other thing you could try. The idea will be to create a new user account, with a hopefully new and complete start menu, and then copy this across to your own account. First you will need to create a new administrator account. Do the following: 1.Click Start and click Control Panel. 2.Click User Accounts and Family Safety. 3.Under User Accounts, click Add or remove user accounts. 4.Click Create a new account. 5.Type in any account name you want. Select the account type: Administrator. 6.Click Create Account. NOTE: make a note of these instructions before you log off. Once you have done this, click Start, and click the small arrow to the far right of the shutdown button, and select 'Log Off' You should see your new account in the welcome screen. Select it and it will bring you to the desktop. Now we need to copy your programs folder onto the C:\ Drive so your other account can access it. Right-click on the desktop, and create a new folder. Right-click on the start menu, and select 'Open all users'. Once this window appears, press Ctrl-A to select all, and then Ctrl-C to copy. Open your new folder on the desktop, and then press Ctrl-V to paste the contents of the start menu into it. If everything worked so far, then open 'Computer' from the start menu, and double-click your C: drive. Drag your folder from the desktop into the C: drive. Press continue at any prompts that appear. Now you can log out of this account, and log back in to your old one. Once there, open Computer again, go into the C: drive, and find the folder you copied. Open it, and press Ctrl-A to select all, and then Ctrl-C to copy. Right-click on the start menu, and select 'Open all users', and then press Ctrl-V to paste. Hopefully this works, let us know how you get on. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. There missing stuff such as disc cleanup and defragmentor. Should I still do it? http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii31/jamesyyyya/Untitled-4.png Quote

RandyL Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Look at my last screenshot and try to restore to a point before this happened. If you can't then we are fast running out of possibilities. 1. System Restore is not an option. 2. No malware was detected after following our guide. 3. Removing policy restrictions via Superantispyware made no difference. 4. Tootech and Snow both touched on creating a new user profile account which you did. 5. I notice the one constant on the new account is Pokerstars. Consider uninstalling it. Given the above steps and the fact that the new account is totally messed up in numerous ways if you compare it to a normal setup then it would seem the next best step is to reinstall Windows. Backup all your data. If you have the option use the recovery options for your computer to invoke the built in restore to factory settings or use the disks you made when you first got your computer to do the exact same thing.
