there was a small red switch underneath the power pack on my computer, and it said 115 or 230, when i changed it to 230 to see if it would solve my constant computer hardware failure, i turned it on and it made a noise and then failed, now it wont even turn on when i put the switch back to the original 115.

has a fuse broken or it short circuited or something?

your help would be really appreciated

You might need a new power supply, or even worse a whole new motherboard and cpu and RAM. I would just first test the power supply to see if it is working. you should have the voltage on the red switch to what comes from the wall socket. You will be lucky if it is just the power supply that is blown. Good Luck.

Post back with your findings.

as maynardvdm said "you may be lucky if its just the power supply".

ouch voltage overload.....just boro a psu from a friend or obtain an old one...

if you put the new psu in and nothing happens try removing the cmos battery for 30 mins.this will reset all.then pop it back in and try again.

the switch at the back as you probably now know is for 115v when you switch it you let 230-250v go down through your board....i hope your board is ok...ge thold of a power supply then post back...they are cheap as anything now...

kind regards

danzil.
