LenH Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Hi I have tried for three days about six hours aday Please someone put me out of my misery. I have two printers Hp1200 and hp 1215 niether respond Keep getting a message "spooling not enabled" Have tried HP help ,internet help, system restore ,running Hp printer disc I think the problem started when I went into startup and tried to get rid of the magnifier and windows messenger placed on my computer by my grandson while visiting Nothing else has been altered I believe that spooling is on the hard drive but I do not know how to proceed Hope you can help please Len Quote
Tootech Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Click Start, then Run, then type services.msc A large box opens and in it is a list of services. Look for the Print Spooler, it may be disabled. Re enable it as Automatic Startup, restart your computer and see if it all runs ok. Quote
LenH Posted August 3, 2009 Author Posted August 3, 2009 Thanks Tootech It did not work I'm afraid It said, started ,automatic I tried three times Items showed up on printer but still would not print Quote
samuria Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 On the printer if you choose properties on one of those tabs is a spooler option it says something like spool printing or print directly try turning on spooling in there it may be under ports menu (its not the same for every printer). Are you printing as admin/ Another problem is you try to print and it trys to spool but the spool directory needs admin rights Quote

Plastic Nev Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Hi Len, I am a little concerned when you say in your first post that it all went wrong when you tried to remove "The magnifier" and "Windows messenger", how exactly did you go about doing this? Also, just in case there is something wrong now in the operating system, do you have any restore, or Windows disks? Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. LenH Posted August 4, 2009 Author Posted August 4, 2009 Hi Sorry if I messing things up by putting things in the wrong place This forum is different to any I have been on My grandson put a messenger service and magnifier on my computer I went into start up to try and get rid of them,I could possibly have pressed a wrong button I have put in my acer recovery disc also, restore, then tried HP printer cd All to no avail Two things I noticed ,I dont know if they are important or not I get a message saying plug and play is not available also in the box for ports, it is empty dont know how to do either. I did say I was computer illiterate Regards and sorry if I am messing things up Len Quote
samuria Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That may make some sense if its not got a port it cant print so its trying to spool until it gets one. First goto control panel then admin tools then services and look for plug and pray(not play) it should be set to started and automatic. if its not started click start. I assume its a usb printer if you get the plug and play working try reinstalling the printer Quote

wallace6457 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Thanks very much for that Click Start, then Run, then type services.msc A large box opens and in it is a list of services. Look for the Print Spooler, it may be disabled. Re enable it as Automatic Startup, restart your computer and see if it all runs ok. I had same problem, but with different printer, followed the steps, and all ok now, just had to re-install drivers fro printer, but would be nice to know how it became disabled in first place, if you can tell me, thanks again, Bob.
