Loading operating system

Have been given a Dell Systemax pc, it had fedora GNU Grub version0.97 loaded in the lower memory and XP Pro loaded in the upper memory. I want to load XP Home edition. The previous XP Pro has been wiped. When the pc is switched on it wants to boot fedora core. Even if on switching on F2 is pressed comes up with choice fedora or XP Pro but will not boot from dvd drive. Press F10 on start wants Flash recovery , so no go.

Any advice on what to try to load new XP home edition

Have you tried changing the boot sequence in the bios to the optical drive first, popping the XP Home disk in, saving the changes and exiting?

Most Dells give you an option on boot up to pick boot device normally F11 watch on boot up for the option
