I used an old version of EssentialPIM Free. On 29/07/2009, the system let me update it. But after the update, the file can't be fully opened, the mouse point just appears as busy all the time. (The operation system of my computer is Windows XP.) Thanks for help!

Have you thought about backing up the data file, uninstalling the current version and installing an older version - there are a few around if you Google it.

The other possbility I can think of is again backup the data file, just to make sure, and run a System Restore to a point prior to when the update was installed.

Thanks for your reply. I installed an older version, but it says because the file is created by the new version, it can’t open it.

I installed the new version again, and this time the problem changed a little bit. The mouse pointer doesn’t appear as busy any more but a window comes out saying

“ invalid request BLR at offset 42

BLR syntax error: expected TABLE at offset 42, encountered 67

Another question is that you said the other possibility is run a System Restore. Does System Restore mean restore disc C?

Thanks a lot! :)

Hi, System restore means to restore the system back to a time when everything was OK. not the full factory restore from the disk.

Click "Start" then all programs, Accessories, system tools, then system restore. It is self explanatory from there, just select a date of a restore point that is before the date you did all the changes.

It should then reset the computer to whatever the set up was then.

Nev.
