Goku Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hello Aminda. From your description, I assume that you have already tried the registry fix for the problem. However it might be well worth following the instructions in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article. Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs Also, you might have a better chance of getting it fixed by using the Fix it button prescribed by Microsoft. Let us know how it turns out. Hope that helps. :) -- Goku Quote
stwoods Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I am working on a compaq f700 laptop (actual model f769wm) and I installed windows 7 ultimate, worked fine as that was the source of the boot dvd. About a week ago it blanked out and doesn't even exist on computer or device manager, meaning there is no tab for any type of cd/dvd drive rom etc......Out of curiuosity I tried the fix_reg for vista, of course i made a back up of reg. Well i restarted it and it showed back up, Now my friend says it won't read the dvdrom. I might just not be paying attention to something under my nose or is this drive just a possssssss? Thanks and good luck to anyone having similar problems ... Quote
slate Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I had the same problem mentioned above with an error message 39. I cleared it by going into the registry and clearing the upper and lower filter values and now the pc recognizes and plays dvd's. The problem I have now is that I cannot re-write discs and up to now I have notmade a recovery disc. I have search the net for updates but am being told all drivers are up to date, any ideas anyone? RandyL Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Although all three of these issues may seem similar it is also likely that they are not the same issue and would have different solutions. As such I would ask that if you are seeking help to start a new thread and leave this thread for Aminda. Thanks Quote We are all members helping other members.
