I have installed Kaspersky 6 Internet Security on PC today and since I've done it, I can't send emails as it says "There was an error opening this message. an error has occured". I also can't reply to emails.

I can send them fine and all my account settings are fine.

It appears to be a problem with my address book as when I first open my Outlook Express it says my Address Book may not be installed properly and I may need to reinstall.

This seems a bit daunting. Is there an easy fix??? PLEASE!!

Thank you!!

can you uninstall kapersky and then recheck you emails.....

Kapersky may have corrupted your outlook profile.......

what kapersky version are you using......you may have to add some rules to allowing pop3 or smtp settings etc...

if your profile is corrupt then i will guide you through backing up outlook express.and then setting up your account and restoring your emails.

do you know all your email account details.....

ie username and password..you may want to try backing up your outlook express dbx files then deleting the account and restarting it from fresh then,re-installing your account...

firstly click on my computer>tools>folder options>then tick show hidden folders.

now browse to C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{random numbers}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

in there will be dbx files + all your calender address book etc

copy these to a new folder on your desktop or some where....now delete your email account by loading outlook express>tools>accounts>mail>then delete your account.

close outlook express

browse back to the folder with the dbx files (not the copied ones) delete whatever is in there.

now load outlook express

setup your new account.

close outlook express.

browse back to C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{random numbers}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

and then copy your dbx files etc back in.

reload outlook express

then try again

give that all a try.

Hi people;

Don't forget the obvious easy fix on this one.

Often times uninstalling doesn't fix the problem with new software. Try a System Restore too.

Outlook and Outlook Express settings and issues can often times be fixed via System Restore. It saved me a few times when I had both on ME before I learned the ins and outs. Sadly Vista does not support Office 2000 Pro or OE. I'm stuck with Windows Live Mail. So I can't experiment anymore.

Maybe I can snag a free 98/Me computer soon so I can be of more help. My data files only go so far.

yep system restore may fix the issue..but if it is a profile issue system restore sometimes re-installs the fault also.....but yes as RandyL said may be worth a try.
