mij Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Vista system, sata drive. Error on start up as above along with a blue screen. When I put in the recovery CD I get a blue screen error. I also get the same when I start it with an empty/new spare sata drive. Having googled the error it seems to relate to a hard drive driver problem .... Can anyone indicate the next step please? I've looked at the Samsung site for a diagnostic routine but found nowt. cheers mij Quote

mij Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 blue screen error Hello. Try the following: Advanced troubleshooting for "Stop 0x0000007B" errors in Windows XP "STOP 0x0000007B" error message when you restart your Windows XP-based computer Let me know if this helps? JB. Hi JB and thanks for the help. Sorry but neither worked. The safe mode would not complete, neither would the Vista re-install/upgrade disk. Further info has come to light, apparently it was disabled by someone switching off the mains whilst it was still functioning. I don't know if that alters thinking at all. The Vista disk looks as if it is loading as it goes into 'loading all drivers' routine but it never completes. The screen remains blank and nothing happens. The same happens if I try to start it in safe mode. I get 'loading system 32 drivers ---------.sys the last being crc*.sys , then nothing happens. Cheers jmij Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Hey lm do you have a spare hard drive lying around? I rather think your hard drive maybe be broken as powering off via wall outlet can often cause issues to the hard drive or even kill it. Are you able to enter BIOS and load defaults set first boot to DVD rom pop in the install disk and try again? Is the hard drive showing in BIOS? Also possibly download the hard drives hardware driver from the computer manufacturers website or the maker of the hard drives website and install during your reinstall of the OS? mij Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 blue screen error Hey lm do you have a spare hard drive lying around? I rather think your hard drive maybe be broken as powering off via wall outlet can often cause issues to the hard drive or even kill it. Are you able to enter BIOS and load defaults set first boot to DVD rom pop in the install disk and try again? Is the hard drive showing in BIOS? Also possibly download the hard drives hardware driver from the computer manufacturers website or the maker of the hard drives website and install during your reinstall of the OS? I have managed to enter the bios and entered all defaults but it didn't work. Putting the Win CD in the CD drive loads all the drivers until the blue screen errors arise again. Neither did fitting a new empty drive. It tries to load all the drives but locks up when it has shown a screen full of 'loading system 32 ******.sys the last one being crac.sys (I think) My son seemed to think it had fried the motherboard on the problematic computer but not a server which he uses to store all his work on. The server and his other computers seem ok. It tries to load windows from the cd drive but it stops with a blue screen. Stop! Contuing may damage the computer etc. It gives the error codes mentioned. When it said it may have inadequate disk space I changed my 40Gb spare to his 500Gb graphics spare but same STOP! screen. It says possibly change graphics card and check for bios updates. I can only do the latter if it will go online. cheers mij Quote
mij Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 Oh **gg**, I went off to make a donation and lost my last post I'd written out. It was the disk that was fried. The spare sata I had it said wasn't big enough ( 40Gb?) so I put in the 500GB my son suppled. Also tried the Vista OS as it seems the graphics card is later than the XP OS that my lad preferred and one of the errors indicated the graphics card was not supported. All now werky werky on vista, big grins all round! Well you know how it feels. Many thanks for the suggestions and help, very much appreciated. mij Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 That is excellent. Older hardware does cause issues. I do appoligies for popping off earlier I was in the middle of decorating my living room. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
