nick Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I am on BT Yahoo which is fine. I have no problem with tit. But it has this really annoying Yahoo Messenger window which comes on everytime i log on. Can someone tell me how to get rid of Yahoo Messenger? Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Hello and welcome back. Open messenger and click on Messenger tab and choose Prefrences from the list in the drop downbox. Under general tab uncheck Show yahoo messenger insider and click apply. Sign out of messenger then sign back in that window will be gone. That should fix the window issue. Let me know how it goes. nick Posted August 10, 2009 Author Posted August 10, 2009 yahoo messenger Still doing it :( Old school metal. Cool. i was an iron maiden fan back in the day nick Quote
snow Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 If you don't want yahoo messenger at all, you could just uninstall it by going to Control Panel, then clicking on Add/remove programs, and finding it in the list there. Select it, then choose uninstall. If you want to keep it, then look through its preferences for anything like 'start messenger when windows starts' or 'load at startup' or similar, and uncheck/disable it. Jelly Bean Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Hey nick, old school is the best. It should sort that little box out. :) Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
nick Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 yahoo messenger Thats the problem. Its not even in programs install/remove for me to uninstall. Unless its down as something weird? And i seem to have unclicked all the boxes that relate to bringing it up but with zero effect :( Nick Quote
snow Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 That's strange; it should be in add/remove programs. Ok, open the run box by holding down the windows key and pressing 'R', then type msconfig and hit enter. Go to the 'startup' tab and search for anything that looks like it could be yahoo messenger, then uncheck it. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help. nick Posted August 11, 2009 Author Posted August 11, 2009 yahoo messenger there is something called YAHOOM~1.EXE could that be it. i am a bit wary coz i log into BT Yahoo so i don't want to get rid of that by mistake. Nick Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Yes that is it, any thing other than messenger will not have the letter "M" at the end. I know you don't want to lose your connection, but even the Yahoo tool bar can be removed with no ill effect to the BT connection. Nev. Quote Need help with your computer problems? nick Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 yahoo messenger I am still unsure as to how to get rid of Yahoo Messenger. Can anyone advise? Nick Quote
Tootech Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Hi nick, I think it is installed as part of the BT Broadband pack. There is an entry in Add/Remove for either BT Yahoo Applications or BT Broadband - I can't remember which. If you select it, you can click Change That gets you into the BT installer program, which shows you all of the installed components, and from there you can uninstall Yahoo Messenger. Hope that helps you. Quote
nick Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 yahoo messenger Brilliant. Its sorted. I knew it would be something simple like that. Thanks a million! Nick Quote
