Hello and welcome back.

Open messenger and click on Messenger tab and choose Prefrences from the list in the drop downbox.

Under general tab uncheck Show yahoo messenger insider and click apply.

Sign out of messenger then sign back in that window will be gone.

That should fix the window issue.

Let me know how it goes.

If you don't want yahoo messenger at all, you could just uninstall it by going to Control Panel, then clicking on Add/remove programs, and finding it in the list there. Select it, then choose uninstall.

If you want to keep it, then look through its preferences for anything like 'start messenger when windows starts' or 'load at startup' or similar, and uncheck/disable it.

Thats the problem. Its not even in programs install/remove for me to uninstall. Unless its down as something weird? And i seem to have unclicked all the boxes that relate to bringing it up but with zero effect :(

That's strange; it should be in add/remove programs.

Ok, open the run box by holding down the windows key and pressing 'R', then type msconfig and hit enter.

Go to the 'startup' tab and search for anything that looks like it could be yahoo messenger, then uncheck it.

Nick click start then open "run" box.

Type in mscongif in the run box and hit ok.

Under startup tab check what is listed there if Yahoo is listed then uncheck the box next to it and click apply.

Yes that is it, any thing other than messenger will not have the letter "M" at the end. I know you don't want to lose your connection, but even the Yahoo tool bar can be removed with no ill effect to the BT connection.

Hi nick,

I think it is installed as part of the BT Broadband pack. There is an entry in Add/Remove for either BT Yahoo Applications or BT Broadband - I can't remember which.

If you select it, you can click Change

That gets you into the BT installer program, which shows you all of the installed components, and from there you can uninstall Yahoo Messenger.

Hope that helps you.
