Guest Paul Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Hi all, anyone know what this means? Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of "WndClass_CWinDrivesNotifyerHelperWindow" Event ID: 257. Double clicking on this entry tells me this: Explanation The specified program is taking too long to respond to notifications about the device. This can decrease system performance. User Action Restart the program. If this does not improve the response time, consider upgrading to a newer version of the program. Well it would be nice to KNOW what program, and device its talking about. Altho, its possible Nero maybe the culprit. I've seen a few sites, that say this has something to do with Nero and maybe INCD. I've got Nero but INCD isnt installed. Any ideas anyone? Thanx
Guest Gerry Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Re: Whats this mean? Paul A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from Event Viewer. Also please do not posts to newsgroups using HTML. http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=257&eventno=2526&source=PlugPlayManager&phase=1 -- Hope this helps. Guest Paul Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Re: Whats this mean? k. Umm well somehow I think Nero was the prob. I've uninstalled it, and the error hasnt come back. I dont have Mcafee's, Server 2003 (I'm using XP). or SBS server 2003 standard. So, probaby will never find out, why that error just decided to pop up Ta "Gerry" <gerry@nospam.com> wrote in message news:uh0F%23s0WIHA.1208@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Paul > > A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! "Paul" wrote in message news:479340cf$1@news01.wxnz.net... > The original post was the error > > Timed out sending notification of target device change to window of > "WndClass_CWinDrivesNotifyerHelperWindow" Nope, that wasn't the error message. When viewing errors in the Event Viewer, you can click the button to *copy* that message. The paste it in a post here. Don't describe it. Don't paraphrase it. Don't abbreviate. Just paste it. I think NotifyHelperWindows is when you insert a disc into a removable drive and then a window pops up with various choices as to what action you want to perform on that removable media. Sounds like Nero was screwing up in the choices it tried adding to the popup window. You could try reinstalling but select to NOT include Nero's choices in that notify popup. Of course, an uninstall (which you already did) followed by an install might fix the problem. Was it really a problem? Were you prevented from using your optical drives? Or are you just posting about a non-critical error of which you were curious? Not all entries in the Event Viewer are bad. Some are informational. Some are just warnings.
