dave56 Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 I am looking to ugrade from xp to vista hp. I have run Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor and this says that my Motorola Surfboard SB5100 USB Cable Modem(Blueyonder /Virgin) will not work with Vista. Is there anything I can do or am I stuck with XP? (which is fine) Any thoughts and advice much appreciated. David. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) Hello David. Have you rung Virginmedia to check if they will upgrade your modem for you so it can run on Vista? I am just looking into any help I can find on this for you. I think your modem is a discontinued one and Virgin should upgrade you to a new one for free. Jelly Bean Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 David apparently the Vista drivers are available for your modem. Support and Downloads Scroll down to your product and on right you will see a link for Vista Drivers download. So yes you could buy Vista and install on your computer and use your modem. Jelly Bean Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 Dave you are very welcome,if you run into trouble let us know and we can see what we can do. Try the driver download and install first and hopefully you should be good to go. One more hint Dave I would run Vista on at least 1 gig RAM/Memory.If your computer can run 2 gig I would opt for that. JB. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
