si370 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Ok - the background: I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7300 computer that utilises a Ralink RT2500 Wireless Network Card. I have a Sky Netgear router provided by Sky that has been working great for literally years, it is still working as I can utilise the wireless with my iphone and PSP - so that is working. I also work away from home and have utilised whatever wireless network is available, hotel, work etc - again with no problems. I have however had to utilise Odyssey for Fujitsu Siemens computers as I was unable to see a network - not sure why but on installing the Odyssey I was able to see and connect to my desired network - on returning home I have had to turn this off to allow the Microsoft network connection to work - not a problem and simple to do. The other day the wireless connection at work failed and on returning home it still failed and I have not been able to re-establish it??? I have tried to look at options and checked websites etc but with no solution. I have included a copy of the ipconfig/all details to assist with some diagnostics of this problem. As you can tell I have internet access through my ethernet adapter. I know enough but everything I have tried now fails - so if anyone has any ideas please fire away... One other thing - I thought that maybe the wireless card had failed but it comes back that it is working correctly?? Jelly Bean Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Hello and welcome. The first thing I sugest is open device manager and update your network adaptor devices via right click, update driver. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
samuria Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 The ip range seems ok if you have connected to another network did you enter a key. I would suspect it may be sending the wrong key to sky its picking up dhcp ok and getting a ip dns etc so its seeing the network fine. Normally on the sky box is the wep key preset by sky you dont say what O/S etc but there should be an option to enter a code depending on how its setup normally under wireless network connections. The problem often is who is controlling the card some software will turn off windows and take over and you sometime have to get windows to get control back. Normally it windows wireless zero confige inthe services panel which may be stopped Quote
si370 Posted August 15, 2009 Author Posted August 15, 2009 Thanks updated the driver as advised and now working again. Any idea why it would suddenly stop?? Something to do with automatic microsoft updates? Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 That is brilliant. Not sure, some times it just appears to happen, maybe PC was not shut down correctly or something disturbed the router/modem and the driver became corrupted.Could be a number of things. But hey your up and running again. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
