Jelly Bean Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Thankyou babe thats what I wanted. What processor/CPU do you have? Ok your specs are fine there is enough RAM there. Did Malwarebytes come up as clean? What antivirus program do you use? Ok lets get you to do a few things. Click start/open run box and type in cmd/In the command window type in chkdsk /r and hit ok. If you get a similar message cannot run chkdsk at this time would you like to schedule type Y and hit enter on your keyboard, restart the computer and let chkdsk /r run. When you say slow to startup does it hang on the post screen or just the OS or both? If it hangs on the post screen were does it hang?CPU?RAM?CD/DVD rom drives etc? Can you disconnect all external hardware and see if the bootup/startup is any faster. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Jelly Bean Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Download and run this and check your temps. SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer Let us know if they show flames on any item and then list temps. Just to see if the computer appears to get hot pritty fast or during a lot of running processes. Updating hardware drivers from the computer manufacturers website under support tab may also help. RandyL Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I think rainman said he has shield deluxe running at startup. I'm not familiar with it but I wonder if it's doing a scan at startup. The only other thing I can think of is a faulty piece of hardware. For instance I recently had a comp with a bad CD/DVD drive. It took forever to get past the POST screen. But after that it would logon to Windows just fine and ran great. Once I disconnected the CD/DVD drive it booted straight up. Just a thought. Quote We are all members helping other members.
