Jelly Bean Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I am realy sorry Geordie,we have been trying to get fixes for this issue. We been on MSN many hours chatting about it and googling fixes like crazy. A recovery maybe an option it would mean a nice fresh install. Backup all data. That drive looks good its Western Digital which is good. The size is good and so is that price. That is a darn good find I will save that link. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
geordie_guy Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Hey there. Well I and another staff member have discussed this issue. We did say try: Open command prompt and type in scf /scannow and popin the install disk and hit enter on your keyboard. Let sfc /scannow run. It will check system files. Have you tried the uninstall of the driver? It will do no halm at all to do this. I tried it yesterday but didn't come up with anything but I am running it again. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I am not sure if a repair install will help? Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
geordie_guy Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 sfc /scannow has now finished and no unusual outcome. I can see a recovery option and its called Software Repair Wizard and I am going to look into it. Jelly Bean thanks very much for all your help and I really appreciate it. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Geordie you are very welcome. Have a look at it and see what it says. I am looking into possibly buying that 1 tb for myself. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
RandyL Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 A lot has been tried so there is not much left to try that I know of. I'll add what I can. 1. Go to this FLASH AUDIO TEST PAGE to see if Flash sound works and that you have the latest version. 2. Check the Youtube and itv player to make sure the sound volume is not turned down or muted on the players themselves. 3. Go to the Yahoo Messenger Options and check your sound settings there. If you can't hear audio in Messenger chat make sure that sound level is not turned down or muted. 4. To determine whether or not this is an IE problem or setting download and install Firefox (en-US link) and try Youtube again. (Note you may be asked to install Flash for Firefox) 5. When you uninstalled IE8 did web sounds work in IE7? 6. From the Control Panel Add/Remove uninstall all Java and Java updtates. Reinstall Java. 7. Uninstall Adobe Flashplayer and plugins for it. (Note you may have to reinstall Flashplayer for Firefox). Also in Explorer navigate to Downloaded Program Files and by right clicking the properties of the Active X files look for the Flash related components and remove those too. Reinstall Flashplayer AFTER a reboot. Or better yet run the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller before reinstalling. Reboot first. 8. Uninstall the itv player in case that is part of the problem. To me it seems to be a Flash and or Java issue but possibly a third party program is the cause. Whether it's an IE add-on or something else is hard to say without knowing what is on your computer. Anyway that's all I have for now. Quote We are all members helping other members. Please return here where you may be able to help someone else. geordie_guy Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 I tried the Software Repair Wizard last night and guess what it still didn't work. I don't really want to anything else and I have no other option other than full system recovery. You never know it may still not work for some reason. Quote
Jelly Bean Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I have a last try. If you have IE 8 installed I would uninstall it and go back to IE7. Unles some of the other guys can come up with an idea for you. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
Tootech Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 We havn't looked at System Restore yet. Has the problem started recently, or is it a long standing issue? Quote
Plastic Nev Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Tootech has a very good point there, click start, all programs, Accessories, system tools, system restore. then choose a date prior to when you know the fault started. If restore doesn't work, I would recommend following what Randy suggested, with first a look at that audio test page. I found out recently through researching this problem, that the best way to uninstall Adobe Flashplayer is by using their own tool, the ordinary add/remove programs leaves too many bits behind that can conflict with a new install. So use this- Adobe Flash Player uninstaller Then go back to Adobe for a fresh install. I am still convinced this is a problem with Adobe Flash player, or as Randy suggested Java may also be playing a part in it too, as without Java you will have problems. Nev. It must be very annoying to you that this problem has not been resolved and believe me it is to us too. All the best and I hope it is resolved by the new drive and re-installation of your operating system. Quote Need help with your computer problems? Then why not join Free PC Help.
