hi i am using xp pro.

everytime i try to burn a dvd it gets halfway through and pc shuts off......

it wont come back on until i unplug from mains and put back in another socket.(which is weird)

it never used to do this.. i recently reformatted in case i had a virus as well but has made no difference.

i have 2.16 ghz processor 704mb ram

i am using nero.. i will maybe try another burning software... is it the power supply possibly? are they expensive to fix?

this could well be a overheating issue...what is your cpu usage like when using nero.......is the cpu fan clean and spinning,,free of dust n dirt....is the thermal paste all ok

does it do it when burning a cd..have you tried a lower speed.

yeah the cpu usage goes straight to 100% and pretty much stays there..it never gets to the burning part...

i cleaned the dust from pc too.i dont know what thermal paste is though lol!!!.always shuts down when around halfway through encoding... the ram still stays in the green though..

only seems to switch on when switching power sockets?? is this maybe my surge protector?

anyone know of any other good dvd software...?? pref the cheaper the better... or any other lite versions?
