Jelly Bean Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry for any delay I was busy on another thread. I noted earlier you read shrimply,s thread which was a good starter refrence point for you. The price you quoted would you want to include keyboard/mouse/monitor? Or just for the main tower build? So your just a general user and would need just a good decent basic build you could upgrade if you wanted to in the future? JB. Quote Rwy'n ceisio fy ngorau......................
cyberpedz Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 Yes the price was including a mouse/keyboard and monitor. Yep just as you say a basic decent build. I just wonder if it really works out that much cheaper Quote
shrimply Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Just thought I'd add a bit of input after just building my own. I don't think you'll save a lot of money, but you will probably end up with a better machine, getting help on here you know that every part is a quality component. Most of the parts I ordered came with 2 or 3 year warranty which is longer than the year you'll most likely get with a computer. Its also a very pleasing experience to actually turn on a computer you've put together and it actually work. And you can built the computer to the exact specifications you want and not have to do without something because it isn't included in a pre-built machine. It also will gain you plenty knowledge. A word of warning though, if your anything like me you'll never stick to your original budget, its just too tempting to spend an extra tenner to get a much better part and if you continue to do that you soon end up way off your budget. Jelly Bean Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I agree with you shrimply. We choose a budget but as you know to build a good computer you had to spend more than you realy wanted to.Plus you had the choice to buy good quality products which would stand you stead fast for a fast reliable computer. If your just a basic surfer then you could just buy a prebuilt computer from a store. On the price you quoted for a full kit you would most deffinantly struggle to build a decent computer. Tootech Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 (edited) I have knocked together a build comparable to a PC World £400 system. PC World Compaq Presario CQ5103uk £400 Ebuyer, same CPU, slightly more memory, 19" monitor, all branded parts - nearly £430 Compaq's are OK systems, built up systems are just as good, even at the cheaper end if you choose wisely.
