Output from an Application - How to get it?

We have a Server (2003) on a LAn with our SBServer (2003 R2).

Users log in to the TS remotely in order to run an application (Sage)

In the application they run reports, and, if they are in their local

office, are able to print these reports on their local printer (if

supported by TS).

However, the application gives them the option to e-mail reports to

other users, but this seems to need an e-mail client on the TS.

As their are mutiple users, some of whom's mailboxes are hosted by

Exchange on the SBS, and some only have local mailboxes on their PC,

is there any way they can e-mail out from the TS?

Alternately, they could save the reports as PDF files, but I presume

that as the application is running in a TS session, they can only save

to disk on the TS itself or, alternately, other storage on the LAN?

Any suggestions as to how to get application reports distributed from

a TS session would be welcome but please bear in mind the remote users

tend not to be techies!

TIA,

JohnK

Hi,

You can enable drive redirection and save the PDF document on the local

client machine also.

http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/7ee9a713-021c-4918-9200-4da057d8da531033.mspx?mfr=true

As for the mailing option, the TS server can host the mail application, such

as Outlook. For details on how to configure the mailing app to cater to

remote users with different Exchange Servers, try posting to the

"microsoft.public.exchange2000.clients" newsgroup also.

Thanks,

Re: Output from an Application - How to get it?

Hi,

You can download the TSRemoteExec from my website:

http://www.mqtechnologies.com, this utility allows user to execute a command

line on the client side.

If the users save report as PDF file on their machine you only need to send

a command line using Sendto Mail Recipient feauture , if the file is saved

on the server you can download the Remote File Transfer component to

transfer file before launching the Sendto program .

For the Sendto program, you can use this one :

http://www.arstdesign.com/articles/sendto.exe.html

very easy, probably you will need to modify it a little, if you need help, I

can modify this program for you

to launch the default email program

Regards
