RDP restart not working

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have noticed on a few full y patched servers that when I choose to restart

the computer, the RDP session closes and the server "reboots". I try to

connect a few minutes later and cannot. After more investigation the server

never actually reboots, rebooting the server fixes the problem. Has anyone

seen this and know of a resolution?

Thanks

Re: RDP restart not working

If it's XP, then use the command "shutdown" with the -f swich (force).

If it's 2003, ensure that no other users are logged on at the same time...

Or use the shutdown with -f switch and see if it works as a temporary

solution?

Re: RDP restart not working

Well, that is a workaround, I would really like to know if there is a fix.

The problem with the workaround is that if the user forgets, then they can't

get back in.
