Unable to attach photos

I have 22 photo images to attach to an email message ,there is a problem :I open the pics file , highlight the 22 images , reduce the size by 25% but can go no further .

There is an error message : 'Your current email programme does not support the MS command Set ( MAPI ) to automatically attach your scan to an email '

 

SPEC : Windows XP home ; Eml server is BTYahoo within Firefox . Any advice would be much appreciated , thank you. :confused:

this could be an issue with the size of the attachments.....have you tired compressing the files using winrar.......just install winrar highlight all the file you want to attach, then right click one of them and click "add to archive" then try attaching the rar file....

if that does not help please post back.

I've set up WINRAR & the 22 images are there as a WINRAR archive but when I try to attach them , after about 15 mins there is an error message telling me thar the attachment size ( 20 Mbs ) is too big !

I'm trying ti find a way of reducing the size but so far not much luck ?

Most we-based email services only allow attachments of 10MB or 20MB in size. The easiest solution to this problem is to create a multi-part archive, basically split your big archive into 10MB chunks, then serperately attach them.

 

To do this in winrar, right-click on the folder (not an already made archive) with the files you want to send, and choose 'Add to Archive...'

 

There is a blank box at the bottom 'Split to volume, bytes' where you can enter the maximum size each archive can be. Simply put 10MB in that box, and click OK.

 

Attach each archive seperately, and e-mail. At the other end, place all the seperate archives on the desktop, and extract one of them. This will automatically extact all of the others as well.

This problem has now been solved & I thank you very much for your help ;but is there a way of speeding up the process , each attachment of just under 10 mbs is taking about 5 mins to become added to the eml & I'd like it to go faster ?

No problem; great to hear that did the trick :)

 

Unfortunately, it can take a long time to Upload data from a home broadband connection. This is because the speed you are quoted (10Mb etc) in your connection package from your ISP is the download speed. The upload speed, which you use to send data from your computer, is usually far lower at 0.5Mb or less.

 

The only thing you can really do is look for a connection with a faster upload speed.

Okay , then that's something I'll have to live with ; thanks all the same ,you learn something new all the time , I'm an OAP with time on my hands so it's not a great problem.
