Guest Andy McKnight Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Hi, We've had VSS running on a few of our servers for a while without any problems until this morning. Our primary file server now shows "No previous versions available" under the previous versions tab. The Drive on the server shows that shadow copies are being made twice a day and it's holding the last six weeks. Browsing \\localhost\drive$\ from the server allows me to see and restore those copies. So the problem appears to be just with the clients. Anyone seen this before? Andy.

Might not be of total use but perhaps ensure you've got the roll-up installed: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349 You'll at least be up to date patch wise. - Thee Chicago Wolf

Thanks, I haven't applied this but a will. An update on this though, it doesn't appear to be a client problem anymore. \\server1\share1 gives me "no previous versions". \\server1\d$\ gives me all the previous versions. So, now it appears to be something specific to do with the shares on the server. There are a couple of different shares there and I'm having the same problem with all of them.

I think someone else reported this a few weeks back but I'm not sure if they ever found a fix of if the roll-up helped. If you try the roll-up, let the group know if it helped or not. I haven't seen any other KB's on VSS and your issue so it may still be pending in the MS labs. - Thee Chicago Wolf
