Guest eaguilar Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Hi, Does anybody know how I can add a dialog box to Windows Server 2003, to be displayed when users access a particular servers or group of servers? For example, this dialog would display legal info or server usage privacy policies, etc, before the user even gets the default log on dialogs... Also, on the same idea, where would a particular server store this info, if it already had this dialog working? I have access to a group of servers that have this feature, but I cannot find where this info is stored or where it can be configured... Thanks lot in advance, </edwin>

Is this for console logins at the servers themselves? If you have a domain it's very easy to set up a policy for the OU containing your servers, which specifies a logon banner - all users must click on before proceeding with a console login. Or you could set it up on *each* server in its local policy, but this is a pain. If it's for network access, the above won't apply. Users aren't logging into the servers. However, if you have a domain, set up a logon banner for use when your users log onto the domain itself.

Hello eaguilar, You can configure this either on domain level or on OU level where the machines are located. How to Create an Authorized Page Warning 1. On the Administrative Tools menu, click Active Directory Users and Computers. 2. Expand your domain, right-click the organizational unit to which you want to add the authorized page warning, and then click Properties. 3. Click the Group Policy tab. 4. If there is an existing Group Policy object (GPO), click that object, and then click Edit. If there are no GPOs for the organizational unit, click New, type the name of the new GPO, and then click Edit. 5. Expand the Computer Configuration node, the Windows Settings node, the Security Settings node, and the Local Policies node. 6. Click the Security Options node. 7. In the right pane in the console, double-click the Message title for users who attempt to log on entry. 8. Select the Define this policy setting check box. Type the text that you want to appear on the title bar of the Authorized Page Warning dialog box, and then click OK. 9. Double-click the Message text for users who attempt to log on entry. 10. Select the Define this policy setting check box. Type the text that you want to appear in the body of the Authorized Page Warning dialog box, and then click OK. 11. Close the Group Policy window, the OU Properties dialog box, and the Active Directory Users and Computers console. 12. Run gpupdate /force (XP and higher) from command prompt on the machines or secedit /refreshpolicy MACHINE_POLICY (windows 2000) Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. ** Please do NOT email, only reply to Newsgroups ** HELP us help YOU!!! http://www.blakjak.demon.co.uk/mul_crss.htm > Hi, > > Does anybody know how I can add a dialog box to Windows Server 2003, > to be displayed when users access a particular servers or group of > servers?
