simple back up

I am teaching my friend how to use his computer. I need to guide him into using a SIMPLE backup programme for his banking not the whole computer suggestions please

 

We both use Roboform pro for password safety ETC

 

I use Acronis 11 myself I am sure it is to complicated for him(drives me bonkers) and not realy needed

What is it you want to back up?

 

Files, folders, the whole system?

 

How often?

 

There are a few backup programs out there that can do almost anything you want. Take a look at Cobian for files/folder backup to external/network drive. DriveImage XML will image the whole drive.

 

They are examples, and a bit more info will help tremendously.

He is only just learning and I do not want to confuse him

I have had a look at Cobian when I work it out for him it might do the trick

another good one bob for file and folder backups is a programme called mirror folder.

MirrorFolder: A real-time backup software

this works in raid mode so will backup as you make the changes..

or to save time re-installing xp etc if the worse happens try capser xp.

this clones your whole drive takes about 1.5 hours first time then any changes take roughly between 5-20 minutes but the computer can stil lbe used,,,,,just in case you decide to go full backup.
