OT: "Silent" fans !

There must be some new definition of the word "silent" that I'm not yet

familiar with !

....built gorgeous, (though I say it myself ...nobody else will), skt 940

based midi tower out of the cheapest/half decent spec. parts I could find,

and put a 80mm to 70/60mm? adapter on old spare AM2 heatsink - and an AKASA

4 blue LED "open frame" 4 wire PWM fan on it :-)

....Prod pwr up button - JET WHINE ...for a couple of seconds until bios gets

going and initiates target fan speed to "slow" whereupon aforementioned cpu

fan decreases speed to a much reduced whine but, similar to that of a

vacuum cleaner. ....oh well better than a jet fighter I s'pose. Where

have all the Papst fans gone ?

regards, Richard

You're Welcome.

I've used QuietPC for fans and fan mounts and, while not cheep, they

have always worked out for me.

Sounds like the new NEC desktops I roll out at work, horrible fan noise

when booting or overheating.

If you value your long term hearing abilities, I suggest moving onto

passive (office work levels) or liquid cooling (all purpose high end).
