i am building a new pc as a media centre.

i installed my asus p5kpl-am motherboard, pentium 4, geforce 9500gt graphics, 2gb ocz ram, 1Tb HDDand 1 pioneer dvd combi and 1 new 400w power supply.

the problem i've got is. once i installed everything and first turned it on i got no picture. took the graphics card out and tried the onboard graphics, still no joy. the board is getting power as the fans spin and i can hear the hard drive spooling up etc.

i took it to my friends where we changed every component except the motherboard and still had the same problem. the motherboard was listed as new on ebay.

whats the chances that the mobo is the problem?

thanks in advance for any info.

Hi.

have you tried popping the CMOS battery out of the motherboard, or resetting the clear cmos jumper.

when the board is powered on are you getting any beeps at all.

is there any chance that the motherboard could be shorting out on the case.

is the power supply definatly good.

hi, thanks for the quick reply. the psu is defo a good one. the motherboard is not shorting on the case as i tried it outside the case and to finish i get no beeps at all. dont think the mobo has a speaker on it. i have tried the jumpers to clear the cmos, but i will try the battery trick too.

ok

what pentium are you using, a dual core core 2 duo.or standard pentium....

what speed of RAM are you using,,,,what version,

do you have another CPU to test with..

are you making sure the 4pin (yellow and black)power connector is conencted good.

and are all the wiring correct to the front panel ie the Power Switch Reset switch.

have you moved any other jumpers on this board bar the cmos one.

its a pentium 4 3.4ghz lga775 1mb 800mhz

the ram is OCZ pc6400 800mhz

the 4 pin connector is connected. i have tried a different processor (quad core) and its doing the same thing. tried a different power supply too. swapped everything except the mobo. it was all swapped with known to be working components from a mates machine.

That's great deewhy. Knowing danzil I'll wager that was the next thing he would have suggested.
