daves2 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 E-machine computer - As I was using it, the program I was running stopped, the pc then crashed and restarted itself, before it could start up, it said "Disk Read Error has Occurred" is this a problem with my hard drive? Quote

daves2 Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 Unfortunately not, just trying to get peoples thoughts before I do anything, no point in spending loads of money to find out its not worth it! Quote
danzil Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 when you first boot the pc.is the hard drive shown in there (bios)......make sure your bios is set to boot from hard drive....just in case its trying to boot from other means... do you have another spare machine to put your hard drive into to back up your data,or see if it is at least found by windows.... disk read errors can be so many different things....make sure all cables inside are firmly in.....try a different IDE cable.also try running the pc with the hard drive connect to the IDE on its own....should be set to master....also if its still not found try changing the jumper on the hard drive to cs...(cable select).see what happens then. give them a go then post back regards danzil.
