Guest Badger Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Hello, Server 2003 SP2 IE6 SP2 Citrix PS4 MIMEsweeper for Web 5.0.5 running on Server 2000 SP4 We have recently installed Server 2003 SP2 from scratch, setup as TS, installed Citrix, and instaled all our apps. We use auto proxy detection (use wpad.dat file on our proxy server, and this works fine when logged on as administrator. When logged on as any other user, and try and access an Internet URL, IE sits there for ages trying, and eventually times out. Occasionally it would come up with "syntax error" in the title bar of IE. If you add that user to local admin group it still does not work. Tried deleting and recreating the users Windows profile but this did not work. Tried manually entering the proxy settings, still does not work. Tried sfc/ scannow to ensure IE files were the correct versions. Tried exporting registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\DefaultConnectionSettings from administrator to the other user, but still does not work. If you open up this registry key on administrator you can see a value for http:\\<Our proxy>\wpad.dat[followed by some seemingly random characters]. Installed Firefox, and using its auto proxy detection this works for non-working IE user!! Not that I don't like Firefox, but I need to get IE working, and I don't want to upgrade it to 7 just now, so can anyone think of anything? I feel like I must be missing something obvious. cheers, Craig.
