Or is it just another name on the Printers and Fax folder??
Guest Anthony [MVP] Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Re: what is the Printers folder? In the Printers and Faxes folder on a print server, you have an option to publish the printer in AD. By default the printer is published as a child object of the print server. You can move it to another location in the AD if you wish Anthony, http://www.airdesk.co.uk "Jeff" <no_email_address> wrote in message news:OjB0qh3YIHA.4860@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > hey > > win2k3 > > I'm trying to publish a printer to AD.. so I oped the AD Users & > Computers. Guest Jeff Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Re: what is the Printers folder? you mean select properties on the printer, then go to the sharing tab and check checkbox "list in directory"? I have that checked, but I don't see my printer in AD this is a printer I just connected to my win2k3 to learn how to publish printer into AD. it's connected via USB. the win2k3 is a fresh installation, only about 5 days old. It's an evaluation version of the OS "Anthony [MVP]" <anthony.spam@spammedout.com> wrote in message news:e5xUIx4YIHA.536@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > In the Printers and Faxes folder on a print server, you have an option to > publish the printer in AD. > By default the printer is published as a child object of the print server. > You can move it to another location in the AD if you wish > Anthony, > http://www.airdesk.co.uk > > > "Jeff" <no_email_address> wrote in message > news:OjB0qh3YIHA.4860@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... >> hey >> >> win2k3 >> >> I'm trying to publish a printer to AD.. so I oped the AD Users & >> Computers. Guest Marcin Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Re: what is the Printers folder? Jeff, make sure that you select the "Users, Groups, and Computers as containers" option in the View menu of Active Directory Users and Computers. Published printers by default are created as child objects of the hosting them print server... hth Marcin
Guest Krish Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Re: what is the Printers folder? Hi, If this is the DC then check under the Organization Unit named Domain Controller and select the machine where the printer is installed physically Krish "Marcin" wrote: > Jeff, > make sure that you select the "Users, Groups, and Computers as containers" > option in the View menu of Active Directory Users and Computers.
