RE: Remote Desktop

Hi,

If you want him to be able to do remote desktop only to that server, just

add the user account to the local Remote Desktop Users group.

Have a nice day!

Re: Remote Desktop

Is there a "local remote desktop users group" ? The server to be remote is a

Domain Controller (with Active Directory)

I add the user acct to the "Remote Desktop" in the AD, but user also cannot

access.

Re: Remote Desktop

Hi again,

You didn't mention it was a domain controller (in this case you don't have a

local remote desktop users group, you have remote desktop user group from

AD). You have to check a group policy setting on the remote machine to enable

user to log on remotely. This policy setting is found at Computer

Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights

Assignment and is called "Allow log on through Terminal Services." Add user

here.

If you want him to make remote desktop only to this machine, modify this

policy setting on Local Security Policy of the specified machine (gpedit.msc)

If you want him to make remote desktop to domain controllers that have Remote

Desktop enabled, you must modify the the Default Domain Controller Policy.

Have a nice day!

Re: Remote Desktop

Thank for your help!

I managed to grant access rights for the user to remote a server.

I noticed that i have to add the user as a member of the "Remote Desktop

Group" and add the "Remote Desktop Group" to the "Allow log on through

Terminal Services" before it can works.

Now if i want to grant users to remote access few Windows 2003 servers which

are domain member. What is the easiest method instead of configure it in

indiviual server?

Re: Remote Desktop

Hello,

Put the Windows 2003 domain member computers to a specific OU. Then make a

new group policy linked to this OU. Add in this group policy in "Allow log on

through

Terminal Services" users that you want to have remote desktop acces (in your

case remote desktop group).

Have a nice day!
