Guest doris Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Hi, I'm running Virtual Center 1.4.1 and the ESX host is at 2.5.5. My VM is built with a windows 2003 server OS and has two NICs. My binding order is set on these NICs but the VM is not recognizing the primary IP - it keeps defaulting to the second. I'm trying to figure out if this is a VM/win2003 issue or a win2003 issue. The same environment with windows 2000 works fine. Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks for any help

Did you install up-to-date VMWare tools in your guest? Is your guest resulting from a cloning using sysprep? did you try uninstalling both NICs inside the guest, rebooting and reconfiguring again? -- KR/Amicalement/MVG, Marc "doris" <doris@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6DB362B7-0851-491E-B3A1-E2359BBB805B@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I'm running Virtual Center 1.4.1 and the ESX host is at 2.5.5. Guest doris Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Re: Primary NIC not being recognized Hi Marc, VMWare tools are all up-to-date. The guest is not the result of cloning - they were all built individually. Yes, I did try uninstalling and reconfiguring - it didn't help. I have 4 servers seeing the same issue - all have 2 NICs (NIC1 is on a fake backbone and tNIC2 is for the Intranet). On all 4 servers, the summary tab on the VM is showing NIC2. This wouldn't be such a big deal except that the app I'm using seems to keep defaulting to NIC2 on one of these servers - even though it's set up to use NIC1. Have you seen this before?
