Guest ttripp Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 On my RRAS server, in the Remote Access Policies, there is a default policy, "Connections to Microsoft Routing and Remote Access server", which is policy #1. Under the "Edit Profile" button, on the IP tab, there are two IP filter buttons, one for Input Filters and another for Output Filters. Even though I did not set a filter, in the Input Filters settings, a filter with a source address and mask of "host" and a destination and mask of "any", keeps popping up, along with the setting to "Permit only the packets listed below". Now, this filter should not actually do anything (it should allow all traffic), but for some reason my VPN users can't access Exchange using their Outlook client when this filter is in place. So, I delet the filter, since it wasn't doing anything, and the clients' problem goes away. The next day, their problem is back; I look in the filter settings and the "host - any" filter has magically restored itself. Right now my solution is to check the VPN server every morning and clear out this filter if it repoplulates itself, but is there any way to stop this from happening in the first place? I used to see this sort of "magic" behavior all the time in NT 4.0, but it's still an occasionally "feature" in Win2K/2K3. Thanks for any input.
