Of course you will not benefit from R2's new AD-related features. -- KR/Amicalement/MVG, Marc "SJMP" <sjmp@newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message news:77276624-0D84-4559-9780-0F93156B6A8E@microsoft.com... > Will I run into a problem installing Windows 2003 R2 x64 Edition server > and > adding it as a domain controller in a windows 2003 32bit env - not running > r2? > > Thanks, > > SJMP
Guest George Yin Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 RE: Windows 2003 R2 x64 Edition - Hello, Thank you for your post and as well as to Marc for the inputting. Marc is right, these is no limitations to add the Windows Server 2003 R2 X64 Edition server as a Domain Controller in your existing environment. Most applications can work well on both x64 or 32-bit platform. For more details about this, please refer to: Windows 64-bit: Frequently Asked Questions: http://www.microsoft.com/servers/64bit/faqs.mspx#E6 You can also add the Windows Server 2003 R2 as a Domain Controller to the existing Active Directory domain without any changes. Since the current domain schema is already Windows Server 2003 R2, the schema information will be replicated from the current Domain Controller during the process of promotion. I hope this helps. If any part of this explanation is not clear, please feel free to let me know. Thank you and have a nice day!
