Hi mcgillivary28, welcome to FPCH

A few questions to start off:

Are you certain that this sound is coming from the speakers, and not from inside the case of the laptop?

Does anything else happen when it crashes, like windows freezing up?

Does this only ever happen during audio playback?

Hi, the sound seems to be from the speakers but cant be 100% sure.

Windows does freeze while the sound is happening, what used to happen was the laptop completely crashed and a kernel error came up, and i would have to completely reboot windows again from scratch losing all my files etc, when the sound happens now i just hold my finger down on the power off button and i can restart windows normally, but since i have updated all my drivers, icreased my RAM and added regcure, things seem to be a bit bette,r but the sound still happens just when i play music or videos. the sound driver i have now is conexant high definition audio.

Hi Steven, when you say you had to do a complete reboot, do you mean a complete reinstall of Windows, the operating system? Is that why you lost files and data?

Aso, you say you used Regcure, Please don't use it again, most of these so called registry cleaners, can without real expert knowledge, remove or damage vital system files and we don't normally recommend their use for that reason.

Hi Steven, being a laptop, the sound system is not a separate card, but part of the main mother board.

Unfortunately, because you have reinstalled the operating system, it is beginning to look like a hardware fault. it could be nothing more than a poor connection somewhere as there are plenty of things plugged into sockets or onto pins on the mother board, and it could just be one of these worked loose.

It would mean taking the laptop to bits though to re-seat those connections, and laptops are fiddly things at best, with some makes being a real pain and only to be done by an expert.

I can only say, if you feel confident to open it up and have a look, OK, but if there is the slightest doubt, then take it to be looked at by a qualified repair technician.

If you do decide to open it up, remove the battery and connection to the charger first, and take precautions against static.

Nev.
