Guest rmangaldas@gmail.com Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Sorry if this is a dumb question, but it appears from Microsoft's web site that the "R2" in Windows Server R2 consists of free updates released by Microsoft over the years since Windows Server 2003 was released, which makes me wonder, can I upgrade my Windows Server 2003 install to R2 by downloading those updates? Which ones? Thanks.
Guest Meinolf Weber Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Re: Free upgrade to R2? Hello rmangaldas@gmail.com, R2 is a feature pack, which requires additonal licensing. Which ones? Thanks. While Microsoft did integrate alot of the free updates to windows 2003 in R2, They also added a lot of branch office and replication improvements as well. At this point I'd wait until server 2008
