Transfer old files

My problem is my old pc has a lot of photos & music which i want to put on my laptop but i can only turn on the PC which has some viruses , worms etc but i can't put my files on disc or use the usb's as the pc error is something like " adminster system " & i can't allow the control panel to work , if i could by a lead or hard drive to transfer i would , can anyone help or have any ideas ?

Hi Trucker and welcome to Extreme Tech Support - Free PC Help, I think first thing would be to get rid of the virus and other malware, that in itself may be holding you back from doing anything. But before we go further can you tell us as much as possible about the PC, I assume it is a desktop, we need to know the make and model, the operating system on it and as much as you can tell us about the faults and the messages you get.
